NYFW Spring 2013 Preview

While New York Fashion Week has come and gone, I took some time selecting my favorite pieces from seven genius designers. While the elimination process was crucial and insane, I have finally selected the most beloved styles. The collections featured at NYFW were absolutely incredible and I wish that they would fill my closet by Spring. Check out the most adored looks below.

Michael Kors chose to add a touch of sparkle and gold with white shorts and metallic heels. The blouse is super glimmering and an incredible way to add spunk to any outfit.

Jason Wu goes classy with a black and white fitted top, black skinny ankle pants and black heels. He chooses to pop the outfit with a white and leopard tote.

BCBG opts for a flawless sheer, lace black and creme frock with black heels that wrap around the ankles. Flawless and perf! Crushing over the wavy locks and simple black clutch.

One of my fav designs was composed by DKNY. I love this simple and carefree gown that fits the body completely. I admire how creative the design is while it also offers a collective feel.

DVF chooses bold and funky colors and patterns (per usual) which I totally gush over! The gorgeous dress above showcases a coral hue, white and turquoise. I love the bit of sparkle at the bottom of the frock that totally adds something special.

Kate Spade has proven that 50's inspired fash is what is going to be hot! Grab the mint collar blouse, checker capris, pointed toe flats, cat eye sunnies and nude tote. So Mad Men!

Victoria Beckham creates this chic and hip white mini with a clean and effortless cutout. Paired with the sassy nude knee high gladiators, this is totes amaze! I die!

Nightmare At The Museum

The 65th Met Ball transpired this evening and while a minuscule portion ensured this event was as advertised, Fashion’s Night of Nights, the vast majority of luminaries essentially served as extras within Anna Wintour’s directorial debut, Night of the Lavishly Damned. Below are my Best and Worst Dressed and frankly, restraining myself with only a trio of the latter was a serious accomplishment.

BEST DRESSED

Camilla Belle, whom I seriously adore and I've been told I resemble (not bragging), exudes seductive resplendence in this Ralph Lauren roaring twenties inspired beaded silver gown. The Open Road star's mysterious eyes and lips further evoke an explicit question: How is she perpetually perfect?

Ashley Greene and Donna Karan's spectacular courtship continued as the 1996 CFDA Womenswear Designer of the Year bequeathed the Americana actress this phenomenal frock. The design exquisitely encapsulates Ashley's stated style, classic with a modern twist.

Jessica Biel, whose playful and pleasant personality I enjoyed upon meeting her inside the Beverly Hills Hotel, owned this simple, yet striking Prada. The gown's glow almost exceeded the future Mrs. Justin Timberlake's sixteen and one half carat engagement ring.

WORST DRESSED

Mary-Kate Olsen, I have seriously loved you and your sister since Full House and I'm Talking How The West Was Fun and Winning London, but seriously what the Future Charlie's Angel were you thinking? The Dual Star Co-President appears thirty years north of aged and thirty pounds south of frail in this The Row, which is MKO's label, gown. I'm seriously reconsidering every compliment I ever extended her.

Florence Welch, you are a Grammy nominated and MTV Video Music Award winning musician, but you require a stylist (call me!). This Alexander McQueen catastrophe, and I'm using a charitable adjective, could whimsically clothe Lady Gaga as she performs Edge of Glory. However, this Christmas Tree is NOT acceptable Met Ball attire.

Gwyneth Paltrow, wearing the exact label Jessica Biel enhanced, appears as if Moses not only consumed every ounce of her hot water (yes, she showers with her children), he also monopolized every moment she could and should have spent before a mirror. This Prada abomination commences with inappropriate side boob and concludes with saddle bags sufficiently large for holding Apple (her daughter, not the snack).

Space & Form Shared With The World (Especially Us)

Donna Karan; 2004 CFDA Lifetime Achievement Award recipient, whose vestments have clothed President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton, Oscar winners Gwyneth Paltrow and Charlize Theron, and an infinite score of elite luminaries; showcased her Spring 2012 collection amidst the pageantry of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. Below are seven spectacular ensembles courtesy of the spectacular ensemble which is DKNY's fabulous public relations contingent.

Fuse this imaginative skirt with an effortless black blouse, simple wedges, and elaborate jewelry such as the necklace above.

This intricately detailed skirt should be paired with an uncomplicated jacket and heels.

This three toned brown dress, perfect for an afternoon lunch inside a friend's garden or an evening barbecue upon their deck, can be elevated with an energetic party necklace or mellowed with a sophisticated tortoise watch and wedges.

Compliment this sexy little black skirt with caramel colored lining with a top or jacket of the same color and a black flat or or caramel wedge.

This provocative gown will instantly ensnare everyone's attention. Accent with crafty jewelry or diamonds and a high black heel.

This intelligent tan colored jacket and skirt will define amazing when paired with a darker tan belt, strappy heels, and wedges. DK, you have once again exquisitely flattered the shape and soul which composes the core of every woman.

Aesop's Fashion

While slow and steady may win the race, statement pieces are what will win you envy this shopping season. Tortoise is huge right now, becoming very popular among many celebrities. The boldest statement one can make with tortoise is finding some fabulous tortoise sunnies, shoes or accessories. Remember you can pair tortoise with anything simple to spice up an outfit, adding a little splash to your most casual ensemble.

✓ Checks ✓

Checks, Checks, Checks, Checks, Checks! As long as you have check print in your wardrobe, have no fear! Check print seems to be making its way into fashion right now and while many people have asked me how to make it look less like a picnic, I try to help them understand that as long as you have a little, it will always go a long way. Some like to really check it up and some like to soften the look and make it more simple. You could go either way, just remember that less is sometimes more, unless you are Lady Gaga of course.

Add some check print to your wardrobe by trying Burberry London Exploded Check Print Shirt at Nordstrom for $295. You can also try out DKNY Sleeveless Stretch Silk Check Print Cozy Top at Bloomingdales on SALE NOW for $158.
