American Staple

One of our nations most iconic pieces of clothing is the denim jacket. This past weekend, as I was browsing new spring dresses, my boyfriend caught my attention with the impulsive, yet attractive idea of pairing one of the dresses I was considering with a denim jacket. While a denim jacket was not even one of my intended purchases this year, when presented with his suggestion, I realized I could work a jacket into several outfits instead of simply around one dress or pair of shoes.

All-American girl Reese Witherspoon flaunts denim's dating savvy pairing her jacket with an adorable spring dress, hobo bag, and unique sandals.

Kim Kardashian shows denim's sophisticated streak accenting her simple top and leggings with a jacket and light weight scarf.

Rihanna rocks denim casual with her jacket over a solid t-shirt with a wide legged pant and the perfect accessories.

Best of all, this essential and expressive wardrobe element is achievable within any budget.
You can get this denim jacket at American Eagle or AE.com for $50.

2012 Academy Awards Best and Worst Dressed

Four hours before The Artist took home the Oscar for Best Picture, some celebrities resembled a masterpiece on the red carpet, while others resembled an afternoon shared by a two year old's fingers and two gallons of Sherwin-Williams. Below, are my Best and Worst Dressed of the 2012 Academy Awards.

Best Dressed

Octavia Spencer shined in this Tadashi Shoji gown and was able to own it while winning her first Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for "The Help."

Milla Jovovich's Elie Saab dress was clean, simple, elegant and full of sparkle. She caught the eye of everyone around her and perfected the look with a dark lip color and soft wavy hair.

Stacy Keibler donned this stunning, crisp, sexy gold gown by Marchesa and as every woman knows, she displayed the evenings premiere accessory, George Clooney.

Worst Dressed

Viola Davis should have asked for help before choosing this hideous, green Vera Wang. How could a designer synonymous with the word wedding, produce a dress so poorly?!

Cameron Diaz usually grabs my attention and I typically love all of her choices, especially when she decides to make a debut on the red carpet. But, her Gucci gown this year was a disappointment. Also, can we just add: "Get a bra!"

It is sad to see America's Sweetheart, Sandra Bullock, miss on the red carpet. This Marchesa gown looks like a complete mess. While the dress fits her figure beautifully, you are slow to see it because the detail of the dress consumes all of your attention.

The Stylish Life Of The American Teenager

Shailene Woodley, from The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, to co-starring alongside Golden Globe and Oscar winner, George Clooney, has shown us she knows just how to rock the carpet. Saturday evening, Woodley, who was an Independent Spirit Awards Best Female Lead nominee for her performance in The Decendants, continued her rise from ABC Family to future hollywood It Girl and showed us all how good she really was, by bringing home the shiny, acrylic glass pyramid.

Shailene knows just how to dress casual but classy with a twist of beach at the 2012 Independent Spirit Awards.

Sassy yet chic, she knew how to rock the Teen Choice Awards in 2010.

Shailene perfects The Decendants premiere in my favorite dress yet, with fresh and sexy hair.

This adorable, elegant Marchesa frock was perfect for Shailene's first major evening amoung the A-List, at the 2012 Golden Globes.

Woodley donned in this beautiful, unique, sleek L'Wren Scott gown at the 2012 SAG Awards.
