Les Chic, Les Chien (Week Nine)

Each week, I review one hundred looks, half of which induce the phonetic uh-mey-zing and half of which induce more violent vomit than the night Jake chose Vienna. With this series (translation: the cool, the rotten), you will ascertain, via my eyes, why an ensemble should spend an evening as your apparel or why an ensemble should spend an evening inside a nondescript box whose ultimate destination is the Salvation Army.

You would think Jessica Alba might get ONE outfit wrong in the time since Les Chic, Les Chien began, but think again. Alba rocks a mint colored blouse that she styles with a leather vest and black leggings. She sports a simple necklace and earrings, carries around a neutral colored handbag and handles her main accessory, daughter Haven. Jess grips her green tea that displays her stylish and trendy two toned nails and sassy bangles.

Its been a Heartbreak Warfare for Katy Perry. She's been dumped by too many guys this year (latest candidate: John Mayer). Do you think she ever considers the fact that if all of these men are leaving her, she might be the problem. Here's a starter: YOUR WARDROBE. A leotard accompanied by a sheer cover and studded leather jacket certainly will NOT do the trick girlfriend. The hair is another massive issue. It looks like KP hasn't showered in days. Go grab yourself some organic shampoo, a CHI and some product and be on your way.

A Variety Wears Them Best

Another summer necessity that will absolutely transition right into fall is a jean vest. Stunning and great on any figure, sport an adorable jean vest with just about anything. Work it with a maxi dress, skirt, shorts, leggings or jeans. Below are some of my favorite ways to flaunt this look. Don't forget that this fashion statement works for both women and men. Too perfect for words.

Jessica Alba knows how to model her vest while pairing it with a flirty and fun maxi dress. She works a neutral colored handbag and strappy sandals while finishing the look with sunnies and a ponytail.

Kate Bosworth should officially be declared a regular on Doll Maison! This fashionista has the trend down while combining a simple blouse, shorts and tan sandals with her vest. This has to be my favorite look. So sexy!

Justin Bieber shows us that this style is not only for women but men too. The Biebs rocks a black and white tee with black jeans (not pictured) and some epic hair.

Usher screams "trendy" with his jean vest, black shirt, black jeans and silver chains. He perfects the look with some dark black sunnies and keeps us wanting more with that mysterious look.

Sophisticated Scallops

Who doesn't love some simple yet superb shorts! One of the most beloved types of shorts among many this summer have been the scalloped designs. While many celebrities have been seen sporting these spunky shorts, lots of average women have fallen in love with the same kinds. Buy a pair before summer is gone and wear them into fall with tights.

Olivia Palermo knows how to work it in these fun shorts. She opts for the bright floral printed pair while mixing together a floral top, leopard flats and a wicker handbag. Olivia tops it off with cat sunnies and a classic ponytail.

Anne Hathaway flaunts these cute blue scallops with white polka dots while taking her dog for a walk in the city. She works together a gray tee and black flats while completing her ensemble with a simple necklace and black stylish sunnies.

All smiles and gorgeous as ever, Kate Bosworth looks radiant in her super chic nude colored shorts. Kate rocks a shimmer blush colored top and tan sandals to complement the nude shorts. She goes for beach waves and a small, matching shoulder bag which supplies a calm and relaxed look.

Mademoiselle Chanel

Gabrielle "Coco" Bonheur Chanel was one of, if not the most, iconic fashion designers of all time. She introduced elegant, functional, relaxed and notable clothing that expressed women of the Twentieth Century. We learn something from her because she broke the traditional rules of women's fashion while contributing to a change through her designs. She originated the idea of the Little Black Dress "LBD" while making strands of pearls her trademark. One of her more famous creations was The Chanel Suit. It became acclaimed for its flattering cut, effortless fabric and weighted lining that provided an amazing structure to a woman's body. While Doll Maison celebrates Coco everyday with "Je ne fais pas la mode, je suis la mode" which translates her iconic "I don't do fashion. I AM fashion" on our site, today in honor of what would have been her 129th birthday, we celebrate Coco Chanel day, a day specifically dedicated to the gorgeous, glamorous, genius. I will forever be grateful and inspired by Gabrielle, while she helped pave the way for everyone, especially women, in the fashion industry. Below, enjoy pictures and quotes from the fashionista.

"In order to be irreplaceable, one must always be different."

"Dress shabbily and they remember the dress; dress impeccably and they remember the woman."

"A girl should be two things: who and what she wants."

"The most courageous act is still to think for yourself. Aloud."

"Women must tell men always that they are the strong ones. They are the big, the strong, the wonderful."

"I don't understand how a woman can leave the house without fixing herself up a little - if only out of politeness. And then, you never know, maybe that's the day she has a date with destiny. And it's best to be as pretty as possibly for destiny."

"How many cares one loses when one decides not to be something but to be someone."

"Adornment, what a science! Beauty, what a weapon! Modesty, what elegance!"

"Some people think luxury is the opposite of poverty. It is not. It is the opposite of vulgarity."

"A woman has the age she deserves."
